When your kids get to the age where they're starting school - it's a REAL HARD adjustment. YOU- MOM I'M TALKING TO YOU! Our babies are STARTING SCHOOL! As hard as it is for us, think about our littles and their mind! This is a whole. NEW. WORLD! I have found going through the routine, walking with them step by step - days, weeks, MONTHS before can really make such a huge difference come FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.. OKAY don't make me cry! Did you know most school districts have summer lunches. This is to keep kids fed all summer long. Well this is a FANTASTIC opportunity to take your kids to the school and have them explore. Granted my little man isn't going to that particular school.. it gives him a feel of what it's like. Walk the halls with him, have him touch the lockers and peek inside the classroom window. Show him this new world, show him you're there but he's in the driver seat. What's something that your child finds comfort in? My son seeks comfort from his cousins! His cousin is a few years older than him so he follows his ever move! We met at the High School hosting the free lunches and we had lunch together! Just like a normal day.. but it wasn't.. he was in the driver seat! These free lunches do so much more than feed our kids. It shows them independence. Grabbing the tray, saying please and thank you to the Lunch Ladies, finding a spot to sit and eating in a timely manner. These simple lunches are taking our kids to a new stage in life! School! How does time go by so fast! I remember him saying his first word and how much I celebrated that.. now he's really EXTREMELY enjoying his school lunch! We made this into a fun day! We met up with our favorite people! Showed Max the school routine! He feels more comfortable , which really means I was comfortable! This Mama's heart grew!
